  • Wiremu Poa - Owner

    My name is Wiremu and I’m the owner here at NZ Iron Strength. I have been involved in the fitness industry for over 10 years now and have competed in bodybuilding, arm-wrestling and powerlifting. Our gym started in the midst of Covid but has flourished to a supportive and amazing community. I specialize in Strength and conditioning assisting with Bodybuilding prep and injury prevention/strengthening. If you’re looking for a great community with excellent coaches, NZ Iron is the place to be.

  • Kura Friconnet - Manager

    Coming from a sporting background and whanau, along with experience in the corporate and health industries, I'm excited to step into the role of gym manager. I want to develop NZ Iron Strength into a gym that is accommodating to all individuals and make them feel welcome every day. My aim is to help each individual achieve their fitness goals and become the best version of themselves. Let's work together to make it a reality!

  • Lukas Shaw - Personal Trainer

    I’ve always had a passion for fitness and exercise. After playing football for most of my life at a respectable level, I had to give that up to pursue my career as a chef. Still needing to be active outside of work I turned my attention to the gym and have been strength training ever since. Finding a new found love for powerlifting I decided to study personal training through Open Polytechnic so that I would be able to have a platform to assist people that are on their own fitness journey. Whether that be strength training, sports specific or those wanting to improve their general well-being.

  • Jordy Brooking - Personal Trainer

    I have had over 10 years of experience within the fitness industry and personal training. This comes from a background in Bodybuilding, CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting in which I have competed in over the years. I will be taking over some of the Semi-Private Classes and look forward to adding some fun and knowledge to the NZ Iron community.

    In my eight years in the health and fitness industry, I have observed how life circumstances impact health and fitness. Before having children, I trained intensively for sports such as the 2022 Powerlifting Commonwealth Championships. These days, life is just about improving one day at a time, being a healthy role model to my family, friends, and community, and coaching others to smash their own health and fitness goals within their personal life constraints. I look forward to connecting with you and seeing how I can help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

  • Gary Rodger - Kickboxing Coach

    Hi I’m Gary but Gaz or Gazza and I take the kickboxing classes here at NZ Iron Strength. I come from a Karate background which I trained for 11 years and became a registered black belt. After a long period within Karate, I then picked up kickboxing which I have done for 5 years since then. I started training martial arts in 2005 and now my passion is helping people feel confident and aware within the martial arts world. Feel free to jump into one of my classes and try it for yourself. Even if you have never thrown a kick or a punch in your life, I can help steer you through the technical side of getting it done correctly.
